Slide Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (2005)

slide-mountain-cabernet-sauvignon-2005I chose this Slide Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 from California for our Saturday night. I can’t wait to describe it because it is soooo wonderful! I had a hunch I was going to love it.

The nose is fruit and spice. The color is very deep, dark red. The taste is full of intense fruit. The finish is peppery with very smooth tannins. I love this! This is ranking right up there with my absolute favorite red wines.

As I write this, Trigger is on my lap. She had an active day and was outside quite a bit. For dinner I have a pot roast in the oven. I started with a shoulder roast and browned it in a hot cast-iron skillet. Then I moved it into a low-temperature oven (250). After 90 minutes I added potatoes and carrots and beef broth. I also baked a loaf of whole-wheat bread, which is cooling on the counter. I will make some green beans too.

Time to check on dinner. But meanwhile, let me assure you that this wine is absolutely exquisite!

A very smooth, fruity cabernet with a slightly peppery, and short finish. Will be seeking out a case or two of this one.
