Tony brought this Panilonco Carmenere 2006 from Chile for Mother’s Day. Both Tommy and Tony are visiting for the afternoon. I was going to grill tonight, but it is cold and rainy in Michigan so I changed my plan to make a pot of spicy chili, whole wheat bread with white cheddar cheese, and oatmeal-chocolate-chip cookies for dessert. I am just waiting for the bread to come out of the oven right now.
Tom and I just returned from a trip up to Northern Michigan for a long weekend. We stayed at the beautiful Homestead Resort in Maple City, Michigan. We had a wonderful long weekend together and we will be posting more about our dinners and wines from the weekend.
For now, though, it is Mother’s Day and I am thrilled to have our sons, Tommy and Tony, with us. We will enjoy a cozy dinner together.
The bread is out of the oven and will cool for a few minutes. Dinner will be delicious.
This wine that Tony brought us is delicious and perfect for tonight. It is deep maroon in the glass. The aroma is a minty fruit. . . the taste is lovely with lustrous tannins. Tony loves South America and their wines! I know his friend George Royce who spent 99 days with Tony traveling around South American, would also enjoy this wine.
Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, Delight Fagan, and to my mother-in-law, Mary Werner, and to all the other mothers out there who love and care for their children. Cheers, Mom!

I can’t tell! But I do enjoy wine and your blog is very fun…I try to check in on you daily and frankly and very disappointed when you don’t post. Mmmm – apple crisp with Cotes du Rhone.

Well, I will try to post more often. . .but then you need to tell me about your celebrity-ness. Deal?

Forgettaaboutit! Hey – how’s the knee healing? Running yet? I know you have an iPad so how about starting a game of “Words With Friends” with me? My user name is, of course, “ctwino” If you have never played – get the app, go into settings and go to User Name and enter my name and it will initiate a game. You can play as many times per day as you want or go for a few days (or longer) without making a move. If you choose to play you can tell your friends and family you are playing with a celebrity!

I am intrigued. Going to look for the app now!

I should have added that it is a Scrabble game. Get the free version – the ads will not ruin a good thing. Try it!

I got it but I don’t know what to do. I went to settings but didn’t see any way to enter your user name. . .I will keep trying. I love Scrabble! And, I’m good at it. . .

Happy Day! So if you have the app – go into it. There will two ways to play – on the bottom of the screen might be a “Create Game” button to click, or, look for the green + (plus) sign on the top right, click on it and go to “user name” and for me enter “ctwino” I haven’t started with someone new in a while so it will either ask me to accept your invite or it will go to the game board where you will make the first move. Good luck…I have had streaks of greatness! Also – when you are in a game – on the top right is a dialogue box where you can send free text messages to your opponent.
