Sibaritismo Tempranillo (2005)

Sibaritismo Tempranillo 2005This Sibaritismo Tempranillo 2005 is an interesting wine. I can’t say that I love it, but I appreciate it. It has a distinct leather quality on the nose and palate. The taste in the mouth is full of cherries and plums with lots of spice, tobacco, and leather.

I must say that the wine grows on me as it breathes. It taste better now than it did 15 minutes ago. I am serving this wine with chicken, brown rice, spinach, and fresh salad tonight.

Simunye Shiraz (2004)

Simunye Shiraz 2004This Simunye Shiraz 2004 from South Africa is a delightfully different Shiraz. This is our second or third time to have this wine. The nose is freshly cut wood. On the palate is velvety tannins and exceptional fruit flavors. The finish is luscious and long and has a taste of brush and bramble.

It has been a tough week in our household. Just very long work days and short nights. But, the good news is that it is Wednesday and soon the weekend will be upon us. We are having a storm tonight. The roads were very bad – it took me more than twice as long to drive home tonight. A car in front of me swerved and then did one donut after the other (I think I counted 4 complete 360′s) until finally coming to rest on the right side of the expressway. Glad you didn’t get hit, little red car in front of me!

Ginestière Coteaux du Languedoc (2005)

Ginestiere Coteaux du Languedoc 2005It is TGIF night at the Werner household. We have both had a demanding week with several late nights and early mornings. So, here we are, a blessed Friday evening, with dinner simmering on the stove and Trigger relaxing in Tom’s lap.

Tonight, we are having this Ginestière Coteaux dur Languedoc 2005, a wonderful French blend of Syrah and Grenache. This is a full-bodied red with a nose of ginger and spice. On the palate are lots of fruit and firm tannins. The finish is rich with caramel and thyme.

For dinner we are having a soup that I made on the weekend — it’s a tasty vegetable soup — along with whole-wheat bread and white cheddar cheese. Cheers!
