I don’t know if I was just in the mood for this Chateau Andrea Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 or what. But, I like everything about this wine. First of all, I like the look of the bottle and the label. It is classy, not silly. These grapes are grown in Paso Robles, which is hot and hilly. It makes a very fine Cabernet.
The color is deep and dark – nearly black. The aroma is seductive; you just know it is going to be great. On the palate is black cherry, blackberries and currants. This is full bodied with precise, firm tannins. I would guess these grapes are fermented in oak barrels; I can detect subtle hints of oak in the generously long finish. This is a wine that I ohhhh and ahhhh over. I love it. This is one of my favorites. By the way, we are having hamburgers tonight on the grill, with salad and fresh tomatoes from the garden.
Tom: This Chateau Andrea Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 is great. It’s big, tannic, and tasty, with hints of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Very, very nice and very drinkable.

Do you get these wines from 4 seasons? After your review of all the wines I’ve read about on your sight, I may have to try so myself…
October 18, 2007 at 6:17 pm
Yes, Jeff, we did get this wine from 4 seasons. I hope you will give it a try; it’s wonderful.

Hi,
I am intrested in 4seasons wine club just to introduce me to new wines I would not otherwise try. Is 4seasons a possitive or negative wine experience..
Thanks Ray

HI Ray, We have enjoyed our membership in 4 seasons wine club very much. I have nothing negative to say about the club. It certainly introduces us to wines that we wouldn’t ordinarily buy simply because they aren’t available (usually) in our local markets. I hope you will give it a try!

I’ve tried wine clubs before but found that sometimes they send wine which you really like but which is not available retail.
Is 4seasons wine available via regular retail outlets or alternatively can you get more of any you like from them?

Hi Rob, Some of the wines from 4 Seasons are available in stores and some are not. But, I’ve always been able to order additional wines from them. Occasionally we will get a notice that they have sold out of a particular wine. Hope this helps!

We got this wine from 4Seasons. We choked down a few sips and gave the rest to the septic tank. We didn’t notice the hints of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. I thought it had a powerful taste of grass, but my wife said it was more like hay. Because it came from the wine club, we’ve got two more bottles. Any chance that this was just a bottle that got too close to the lawn mower and the others taste better?

Hi John, Yikes, sounds like you had a bad bottle in your shipment. I would definitely give the other bottles another try. Another thing (and maybe you already did this with the first bottle), but definitely open the next bottle an hour or so before you are ready to drink it and let it decant. That may take care of the grass/hay issue. Good luck and please let me know what you think of the next bottle!

I have been getting the 4 Seasons Wine for a year now and I love it. The case I just got yesterday has semillion. And, I loved the Chateu Andrea.

Hi Michelle, That’s great! I just ordered a bottle of Chateu Andrea along with a variety of other wines. It really is good!

I’d like to order some wine..my neighbor gave me a bottle of Chateau Andrea 2006..LOVE IT! I’d like to know if you have any Port or something similar. Thanks! Pam

It’s great, isn’t it, Pam? Try 4SeasonsWine.com. I believe that is where we purchased the wine. Good luck and let me know if you are successful, okay?

My girlfriend and I just tried the 2006 Chateau Andrea Cabernet Sauvignon and both thoroughly enjoyed it. I did get this wine through the 4 Seasons wine club and am glad I did. I’m trying to find it in local wine stores but haven’t had any luck so far.

Domingo, well there you go — one of the great benefits of belonging to a wine club such as 4Seasons Wine. We are able to get great wines such as these that aren’t readily available on the market. So glad you and your girlfriend enjoyed this Cabernet. It is pretty special.

Just wanted to add a word about Chateau Andrea Cab and 4seasons. First – what a fabulous wine! But then we have yet to have anything less from 4seasons (we’ve been members for a few years now.) I’d like to add that not only do they sell great wines, but their customer service is above and beyond good. On the rare occasion (and we buy very frequently) that we have had a bottle we think may have turned, they replace it without question. Impossible to go wrong!
I loved reading your wine blog! So much, in fact, this is the first time I’ve ever responded to a blog
Time to uncork

Hello Di, Thank you very much for your comment. I hope that someone from 4seasons sees yours comment. It will certainly make their day; speaking of 4seasons, we just received a case of wine today, did you? And, we are drinking a bottle that we just opened from that case.
It’s fun to know that you are enjoying the same wines that we love and appreciate. I have never had to return a bottle but it’s good to know that they will be accommodating, if I ever need to. Thank you again for your comment, Di. I hope you will be back and share more thoughts with us!

I, too, loved the 2005 Chateau Andrea. Have you tried the 2006? If so, is it as good as the 2005? On sale now at 4seasons for $106 per case. Wondering if I should order a case or just try a bottle first.
May 8, 2009 at 7:38 pm
Janice, I think it is safe to order a case. Now, I have no super-rational reason for saying that except that I am optimistically minded! I am imagining that the 2006 will be just as wonderful as the 2005. Let me know what you decide to do.
May 16, 2009 at 5:46 pm
Haven’t ordered yet, but if I do, I’ll let you know if it’s as good as I remember the 2005 to have been.
May 16, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Go for it, Janice!

Well my case of Chateau Andrea arrived via ups yesterday, just as we were heading out to, of all things, a private wine-tasting at a local wine shop. Opening the first bottle in a few minutes after it has had time to cool off a bit in the fridge. It’s 93 degrees right now (down from 97 earlier) and I’m hoping my shipment didn’t stay in the UPS truck long enough to ruin the wine. When the wine reaches “room temperature” I’ll pop the cork, let it breathe awhile, and post again. Keeping my fingers crossed.
June 21, 2009 at 8:22 am
My fingers are crossed, too. Can’t wait to hear the verdict!
June 21, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Well, I hate to say it, but it’s just not as good as we remembered. It’s a bit sharper to the nose and on the tongue than the 2005 which, as I recall, had a more velvety feel. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a good wine especially after it has had a chance to open up a bit–at least 20 minutes or so. And perhaps the south Louisiana heat was more than it could bear. I plan to store a bottle or two properly for at least a year to see if it ages well. It’s an on-going adventure!
Janice
P.S. Happy Father’s Day, Tom.
June 21, 2009 at 7:43 pm
Thank you for reporting back, Janice. Perhaps that heat did get to the wine. I’m glad to know that you still think it is good.
Tom & I are having a wonderful Father’s Day cocktail hour while grilling chicken. Thank you for thinking of him!

Hi all,
I just finished a wonderful bottle of Chateau Andrea. I have a friend who sells this wine, if you would like to order more of this wonderful wine, give her a jingle at 847-223-3340.
Enjoy,
Lynn Rawson

Thank you, Lynn. I’ll bet your friend gets some calls!

I stumbled on your blog while looking for this wine. I have to say this is one of the best cab’s ever. I’m glad to find other people who thought the same
Happy Tastings

Larry — Thanks for adding your two cents about this delicious cab. It’s fun to know we’re in good company.

Someone gave me a bottle of Chateau Andrea Cab 2005 and my husband and I enjoyed it so much. When I went to search for it online (which I rarely do), I found your comments. You are spot on with this one! Fantastic!
October 4, 2009 at 9:12 am
Thank you, Vicki! It’s a rare but wonderful thing to be spot on!

I had been a member of 4 Seasons for about two years, cancelled for personal reasons for about same amount of time and recently rejoined. Fortunately my first shipment as renewed member (all reds) incluced 4 bottles of the 2006 Cab. I am just finishing my 2nd bottle. I, too, am absolutely delighted with this wine. The remaining two bottles are set aside as gifts for friends who shared the 1st two bottles with me and loved it. I will be ordering a full case.
By the way, one of these persons works on the restaurant side of Holiday Inn. She tells me Chateau Andrea wines are very popular choice on their banquet menu. They have often served the Cab at these fumctions and people often inquire whether they can purchase bottles to take home. (a no-no for hotels, restaurants, etc., I’m told.) Thought this was a great kudo for this wine. though.
Glad to be back in the 4 Season fold – an outstanding wine club. A toast of ’06 Cab to them !!!

Really nice to hear from you, Barb. And, interesting to hear that the Chateau Andrea is popular in restaurants. I can certainly understand why that is so! Enjoy the club!
