Burley Fox Shiraz (2005)
July 31, 2007 — Tom & Melody
This is our second bottle of Burley Fox Shiraz 2005. But, I am tasting it as though it is my first taste. In spite of my summer cold, I can still enjoy the rich taste and full body of this delicious shiraz. The nose is a little difficult for me to decipher today but hints of cherry and spice are managing to get through my “challenged” airways. I can taste cherries and chocolate on the palate. The finish is delectable; it lingers long after I set the glass down. (Although it is 90 degrees today, I am serving leftover homemade bean soup for dinner for my sore throat [and lack of energy for cooking].) Tom picked this wine particularly for pairing with the soup. I agree; this should compliment it nicely. Is there anyone else out there suffering from a summer cold?
Tom: This Burley Fox Shiraz 2005 is very nice: tannic, mildly peppery, with tastes of cherry and hints of chocolate. More fruity than some shirazes, but not fruit bomby. Very drinkable and tasty.

This is not a test comment.
Hope you’re feeling better. No wine for two days?

Haha, you are very funny, Miss V. We were trying to figure out if comment-ers were notified by email when we commented back to them. We discovered they are not.
So, the only way for you to know that I am commenting back to you is if you come back here and look. Do you?
I am starting to feel better today. In fact, I know I must be feeling better because I am teasing Tom, which I haven’t done since I’ve been sick. We are having a glass of Traverse City wine right now and I am going to write about it now. Thanks for checking on me, my friend!

I am having my first-ever glass of Burley Fox, a 2006 Shiraz. It was among 12 bottles of reds I bought on line for $83 shipped (I think from 4seasonswine.com). The bouquet is surprisingly mild but the taste is excellent. I wish I had ordered more.

Hi Buddy. I know what you mean. Burley Fox has been very popular with readers of this blog. We only have one or two bottles remaining in our stockpile. By the way, that is an excellent value — $83 for 12 bottles! Was it a special sale?

How true, how true. Burley Fox is one of my favorites too. Those Aussies know how to squash a grape.

Haha, yes they surely do know how to squash a grape!

Hello, I was wondering if this wine is available in Fayetteville North Carolina. I have checked my distributors and they have never heard of it. I have a customer who has special ordered this particulary wine and would like to know how we can get it to the store. Thank you for your time.

Hello Danielle, This is a wine that came from 4Seasons wine. I occasionally see it advertised for sale in their brochures. I am betting you could order it from them. I don’t have the information on me at this moment, but try looking at their website:

Good luck and if you need more info, let me know.

Yes, 4Seasons has it available (I just ordered another case last week). It’s about $10.50 a bottle, plus shipping. This is an excellent Shiraz.

Excellent news, Ron. I have been hoarding my last bottle; now I know I can get more of it. Thank you!
